RETURN OF FISHING TO MELBOURNE

In breaking news late today, Better Boating Victoria has announced that boat ramps are now open across Melbourne. VRFish has been continuing its advocacy promoting fishing and boating as a safe, family friendly activity – and as a form of exercise. Last week, VRFish wrote to Premier Andrews to encourage the return of fishing to Metropolitan Melbourne and to guarantee snapper season.

As of this afternoon the state of play for fishing and boating in Metro Melbourne is:

  • Individuals are able to go boating and fishing (powered and unpowered) within 5km of your home and a 2-hour time limit applies.
  • Everyone must continue to adhere to physical distancing and other restrictions.
  • Boat ramps and jetties are open.
