Getting the Hastings Boat Ramp finished:
The following Update as at 16/10/2020 has been provided by the Council’s Project Manager:
- Cofferdam installation now complete
All sheet piles and internal structural bracing for the cofferdam are now installed, providing a dry work area for the construction of the new boat ramp.
- Fibreglass sheet pile installation now complete
Part of the permanent built form of the ramp, fibreglass sheet piles are now installed on both the northern and southern sides of the ramp.
- Preparation works at the bottom of the ramp underway
The subgrade at the base of the ramp has been prepared for the placement of the concrete structural edge beams and concrete pre-cast panels.
Editors Note: Precast slabs for the ramp extension were installed at the bottom of the ramp on Friday 16th.
- Concrete structural edge beams installation underway
Pre-cast concrete structural edge beams have arrived onsite with installation now underway.
The edge beams will support the boat ramp concrete pre-cast panels located on site and positioned for an immediate installation.
Editors Note: The Edge Beams have all been installed and the Precast slabs for the ramp extension were installed at the bottom of the ramp on Friday 16th.
With works pushing ahead as quickly and safely as possible, construction is expected to be completed in early November for the boating season.

Editors Note: I note that today should have been the grand opening of the Ramp under the original Project Time Line. It is indeed a Pity that the Annual Snapper Season which started in September will effectively be Finished by the time the ramp is finally available sometime in November!
